The Albuquerque Journal reports that village of Ruidoso and former Fire Chief Tom Gavin have reached a six-figure settlement over his firing in 2011.

His attorney asserted that the termination was driven by whistle-blowing, contrary to established law. Mr. Gavin served as fire chief in Ruidoso from February 2009 to Jan. 5, 2011.

When you have been wrongfully terminated over exercise of your civil rights or on the basis of age, sex, nationality or race, especially when your employer was a government agency, you may have legal means to stand up for your rights. A civil rights lawyer can help you determine if you have a viable case.

If you need a civil rights lawyer, you can contact McGraw & Strickland at (575) 323-1529
